Field of Activity

Basic research on skin stem cells, their genetic determinants and their sensitivity to genotoxic agents (UV and RI); Applications: Healing, cutaneous carcinogenesis
– Stem cell biology.
– Cell therapy.
– Cancer.
– Radiosensitivity.

The Genomics and Radiobiology of Keratinopoiesis Laboratory (LGRK) is part of the CEA’s François Jacob Institute of Biology.
Research at LGRK focuses on the homeostasis, regenerative potential and radiosensitivity of human epidermal stem cells.

  • The first objective of the laboratory’s team is to characterize the properties of these cells in their normal state. The team seeks to identify the determinants of the stem-cell state and the self-renewal of stem keratinocytes, notably as concerns TGF-B1 regulatory pathways.
  • A second objective is to study these stem cells in pathological conditions. The team studies the role of stem keratinocytes in skin cancers (under ionizing radiation and UV light) and certain pathologies associated with rare dermatological disorders causing hypersensitivity to genotoxic agents, particularly Gorlin syndrome.
  • COLLABORATION / CHAIR

The laboratory participates in programs associated with the ANR, the Investissements d’avenir program and a number of European networks (RISK-IR, Euratom). It is also involved in a range of collaborative projects :

    • some academic, with the CNRGH, I-Stem, Genethon or IRBA (in Brétigny-sur-Orge).
    • others clinical, with the Percy Hospital, Institut Curie (Paris) or Inserm U916 (Bordeaux).
    • a few industrial, with METAFORA Biosystems or Texcell.
