Physiology and Biology of Exercise
Physiology, cellular and molecular biology, genomics.
The LBEPS was created by the University of Evry, the IRBA (Institut de Recherches Biomédicales des Armées) and the CERITD (Centre d’Exploration et de Recherche sur l’Innovation du Traitement du Diabète). It is a Joint Research Unit in Sports Sciences which studies the physiology of training and recovery strategies in healthy people, in ordinary conditions or in the context of intensive training (high level sportsmen or soldiers) or when they are suffering from metabolic disorders.
The scientific policy of the unit will privilege a strategy of translational research, from the physiology of Man in motion to the study of cellular, molecular, genetic and epigenetic responses to exercise and recovery.
The LBEPS is specialized in the identification of innovative biomarkers (microRNA, extracellular vesicles, mitochondrial health index, salivary markers, metabolic profile, etc.) associated with physiological parameters to propose tailor-made programs in order to personalize the training plan according to individual needs. The LBEPS also works on the vulnerability and sensitivity of each person to heat stroke, cold or altitude according to their genetic profile and their responses to effort in these different environments. The objective is always to be able to propose an individualized training adapted to the athletes and the soldiers.
The LBEPS is also developing projects aimed at improving health through physical activity, particularly in patients with metabolic diseases and muscular pathologies. It works closely with the CERITD, the Hôpital Sud Francilien and Genopole, in order to create predictive tests for patients and to be able to propose the best individualized therapeutic training.
Finally, the LBEPS works with several sports federations (Athletics, Rugby, etc…) in a context of performance optimization and health prevention for athletes.
