Luxigene preserves the genetic heritage of the world’s rarest and most endangered plants, then draws on it to create bespoke living works of art.
HISTORIQUE
Born out of the Paris-Saclay ecosystem, the project led to the founding of Luxigene in June 2025 by Chrystian Wilk. The company set up at Genopole later that year, where it runs its conservation and genetic design platform.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCTS / SERVICES / TECHNOLOGY
Luxigene is building a cryobank and a genetic database of the world’s rarest and most endangered plants. The company then uses genetic engineering and the data collected to design bespoke exceptional plants, with unprecedented shapes, colours and traits, delivered with a self-sustaining care solution.
CUSTOMER REFERENCES / COLLABORATIONS / HIGHLIGHTS
Luxigene has assembled a first collection of rare and endangered plants, whose genetic resources have been sampled and whose tissues are cryopreserved, making it possible to regenerate them in the event of extinction. Plants have already been successfully regenerated. The first creations with bespoke colours have been produced, and a project is under way with a renowned floral artist.
COLLABORATIONS SOUGHT
Luxigene is looking for scientific and institutional partners to reach endangered habitats, discover new species there and study the function of their genes. It is also looking for exceptional venues to showcase its creations

STRENGTHS:
Science, art and biodiversity conservation combined; plant genetic engineering platform; specialised scientific team; sterile creations with no risk of dissemination.
A unique model in which every spectacular creation directly helps preserve the world’s most endangered plant species. A compilation of genetic data and know-how that grows with each creation.
INNOVATION ASSETS:
The invention of a new form of artistic expression, based on genetic engineering, producing plants with characteristics sometimes impossible to obtain in nature, with no risk of dissemination, to adorn the most prestigious spaces.
2% of turnover is set aside for an independent partner in order to support the preservation and replanting of tropical forests.
