Discover >Genopole accompanies researchers, postdocs and start-up entrepreneurs through all the phases of their projects to ensure the best possible conditions for business development.
Discover >Every day, at Genopole, researchers, entrepreneurs and students cross paths, share ideas and unite forces in a veritable melting pot for innovation.
Discover >Giving wings to research and empowering employment in our community are cornerstones of Genopole's mission. Catch up on recent scientific advances, the accomplishments of our biotech actors and the events that enliven the biocluster.
Discover >BioTissue’s innovation lies in its range of three-dimensional, fully resorbable, and mechanically stable implants, as well as its cell therapy solutions. These implants create an optimal environment for the patient’s own cells, enabling the reconstruction and long-lasting regeneration of damaged tissues.
BACKGROUND
BioTissue was formed by a double spin off from the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the University Hospital of Freiburg. Its activities are concentrated at its sites in Geneva (headquarters), Berlin (Charité Mitte Campus) and since 2025 at Genopole where its subsidiary BioTissue Technologies SAS has been established, to intensify its industrial production and launch its commercialization on an international scale.
DESCRIPTION
Its flagship product, Chondrotissue, is a resorbable synthetic implant designed for the regeneration of joint cartilage. Placed arthroscopically over the damaged area, it creates an optimal (stable, 3D) environment that allows the patient’s cells to rebuild functional and durable cartilage. BioTissue also possesses a unique cell therapy platform, “Bioseed,” for various medical indications in tissue regeneration.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS / PARTNERSHIPS / HIGHLIGHTS
The Chondrotissue solution has already enabled the treatment of 6,500 patients in Europe. BioTissue Technologies SAS plans to ramp up production in 2026: a new production line has been installed and qualified in a highly secure environment at Genopole, with the aim of commercial deployment in Europe and Asia.
COLLABORATIONs SOUGHT
The company is seeking financial partners to support its industrial scaling up.
