ALGAMA is addressing tomorrow’s nutrition challenges today, by creating
new, healthy, tasty and sustainable foods based on microalgae.
BACKGROUND
Created in 2013 by three lifelong friends, ALGAMA now employs 15 people. The company, focused on innovative microalgae-based foods, was originally accommodated at Agoranov before joining Genopole in September 2015.
Having raised €3.5 million from private investors, ALGAMA is pursuing its development and seeking additional finances to consolidate its international expansion and R&D.

TECHNOLOGY
Every day, at its food innovation facilities, ALGAMA calls upon the exceptional nutritional qualities of microalgae to develop finished alimentary products.
Springwave, a spirulina-based naturally blue beverage, is ALGAMA’s first product. Springwave is a well-balanced, pleasurable and revitalizing drink that also affords exceptional nutritional and antioxidant benefits.
Notably, Springwave won the SIAL Innovation 2014 non-alcoholic Beverage.
In 2016, ALGAMA will be launching a new microalgae-based product and intensifying its R&D.

ALGAMA uses the unique nutritive potential of microalgae to create high quality foods and drinks.
The company works notably with INRA and a mixed MNHN / CNRS research unit. It also works with several industrial partners for the development of its products.
Supported by Bpifrance and the Vitagora competitiveness cluster, ALGAMA has been the laureate of several programs, including NETVA and Phase 1 of the European H2020 program.
ALGAMA is a member of the association France Microalgues.
The company has won numerous prizes at front-running trade fairs (SIAL 2014, Brau Beviale) and promoted its products at major events (Expo 2015, COP21). Building upon these strengths, ALGAMA is now seeking to accelerate its international expansion, notably to the United States, where an affiliate will be created in 2016.
